Florida is the Leader in Bookings for the Thanksgiving Holiday

Thanksgiving is in a month and the outlook for holiday travel is strong. Domestic travel in the U.S. is defined by a surge in travel to popular family leisure destinations –analyzing Adara’s travel-intent data, we see that Orlando and Fort Lauderdale in Florida are the most booked destinations for leisure travel during the Thanksgiving week. These are some of the most popular destinations to travel to for Thanksgiving:

Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Miami in Florida are popular destinations for leisure travel this Thanksgiving. New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Detroit have proven other popular destinations for this popular holiday travel season.

Bookings for full-service hotels are on the. We have observed a higher demand for full-service rooms over luxury rooms within hotels. Most bookings are for hotel rooms in the full-service category, comprising 58% of all bookings. Limited-service rooms have also seen a high number of bookings after full-service at 32%.

53% of the Bookings Made for 1-2 Day Trips

Short trips are dominating bookings for Thanksgiving. We have observed a majority of hotel bookings for Thanksgiving with a length of stay (LOS) of 4 days or less. 53% of the hotel bookings are for LOS of less than 2 days, and 32% of the bookings are for LOS of 3-4 days.

Advance Booking Window Averages 45 Days

The advance booking window for travel during the Thanksgiving holiday averages 45 days. This has expanded from 32 days in 2020 when travelers were apprehensive about booking their travel and hotels in advance. However, this is still below pre-pandemic levels when the advance booking window averaged 49 days.

As the holiday season approaches, travel companies and service providers must adapt to these changing trends. Offering competitive pricing, value-added services and attractive packages could attract U.S. travelers who are more conscious of their travel budgets. Furthermore, promoting domestic travel would be beneficial, as travelers may opt for local destinations that offer unique experiences and cost savings.
